The Dance of Creation: My Art Process
Every painting I create begins as a spark—an interplay of imagination, inspiration, and curiosity. It doesn’t simply emerge, fully formed, from my mind onto the canvas. Instead, it evolves, layer by intricate layer, like a story unfolding.
The process starts with a hunt for fragments of beauty: images, textures, and ideas that speak to me. I gather them, weaving together their essence in a digital photo program. This step is like composing a symphony, blending visuals until they harmonize with the vision I see in my mind’s eye. This composite becomes my guide—a map of possibilities, not limitations.
Then, the magic begins on the canvas. I often start with acrylic inks, their fluid, unpredictable nature helping me lay down the soul of the piece. Sometimes, there’s a sketch—a scaffold of lines, especially for architectural work—but the piece takes on its character through the collage. Music is always present, not just as inspiration but physically. Sheets of music are worked into the layers, alongside affirmation words that whisper positivity into the heart of the artwork.
From there, I build and layer. Spray paints lend energy and texture; acrylic paints add depth and movement. With each step, I create and conceal, letting the piece reveal itself in its own time.
Gold leaf becomes the alchemy of the process, catching the light and drawing attention to those moments that feel most sacred. And finally, the oils. The last layers of paint bring richness, softness, and dimension. It’s here that the painting comes alive, fully realized—a harmonious balance of the ethereal and the tangible.
For me, every painting is a journey—a conversation between the materials, the music, the whispers of affirmations, and my intuition. What emerges is something both mysterious and deeply personal, a story meant to resonate with the viewer in their own unique way.
